Compiled by Dorothys daughter, the poet and literary scholar Kate Lilley, Selected Poems encapsulates Hewetts enduring themes of grief, loss, despair and memory. This is the first volume to be published following Hewetts death in 2002 and features an intimate introduction by Kate. Hewett produced 12 collections of poetry, three novels, an autobiography, 13 plays and many articles and short stories. Her impact on Australian writing was recognised when she was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to literature in 1986. Most recently the success around Wesley Enochs new production of Man from Mukinupin at Belvoir Street Theatre in Sydney has renewed interest in Hewetts life and work.
